RITES SET FOR MRS. HANSON

Mrs. Iru L. Hanson, 77, the wife of Hugh E. Hanson of 1412 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died Wednesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of the Rev. Oliver and Nora White Lippincott, she was born May 30, 1896, in Macedonia, Iowa. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, and later was graduated from Drake University in 1920. She taught elementary school in Milford, Iowa, and later taught in the Tyler School in Cedar Rapids.

She was married to Hugh E. Hanson Dec. 11,1937, in Grinnell. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Chicago, where Mrs. Hanson taught remedial reading in the public school system, She retired in 1963, and the couple moved to Grinnell to make their home.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. of the church, Beulah Chaper No. 47 of the Order of Eastern Star in Grinnell, the Searchlight Club, Pi Beta Phi college sorority, and the Simpson College and Drake University alumni clubs.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Clark (Frances) Scurr of Gilman and Mrs. Fern McGregor of Stanwood, Wash.; two sisters-in-Law, two nieces, and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, *Otus and Eolin Lippincott.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hanson will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb.22, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John W. McCallum, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner, and pallbearers will be Dale Anthony, Colin Buitendorp, Jim Buitendorp, Crawford Lippincott, Jack Lippincott, and Harry Scurr.

Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.
