FRANK URFER FUNERAL HELD AT BROOKLYN

Funeral services for Frank Urfer were held Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, at Grace Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with burial in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

The Rev. Clarence W. Woollard conducted the services. Pallbearers were Dale Lippincott, Ross McCulla, James Hull, Maynard McLain, Paul Paynter and Clarke Hall.

Frank Elemr Urfer, son of Samuel and Susanna (Fahrni) Urfer, was born June 22, 1875 near Guernsey. He died at Community Hospital in Grinnell, Thursday, Jan. 19, at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 28 days.

He attended public school in Poweshiek County and college in Des Moines. He spent his entire life in Poweshiek County.

He married Bertha May Morrison, Nov. 28, 1906. To this union three children were born: Florence, Paul and Elmer. They made their home on farms in Poweshiek County until June 1, 1946 when they moved to Brooklyn. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1957.

Mr. Urfer became a member of Grace Methodist Church Sept. 29, 1946. He was an active member of Sunday School and Church until failing health confined him to his home. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and other organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers and his wife, Bertha.

Surviving are his children: Mrs. Florence Norton of Marengo, Paul of Brooklyn and Elmer of Malcom; one brother, Charles of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
