DELMAR NIESTER

Delmar Niester, 71, of Malcom died of anemia Saturday, Sept. 28 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home,wih the Rev. Paul Jordon of Grinnell officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers were Kenneth Elliott, Donald Huff, Roger Innis, Wesley Meyer, Lonnie Strong and Steve Zarndt.

Graveside rites were conducted by members of the Grinnelll Veterans Ceremonial Unit, with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.

He was the son of Charles and Irene Chase Neister and was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Grinnell. He was a graduate of Grinnell High School. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Air Force in India.

He was married to Colleen Roseland May 16, 1949, in Montezuma. They lived in Grinnell where Mr. Niester worked for Grinnell Implement Co. He also farmed and worked for Amoco at Malcom. He later worked for Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. and Grinnell College.

He was a member of the Malcom Methodist Church and the VFW.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Stephen of Ames; two daughters, Sandra Zarndt of Decatur, Ill., and Sherry Innis of Grinnell; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Ila Morton of Newhall. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duane.
