RALPH ROSELAND DIES SATURDAY; FUNERAL TUESDAY

Ralph A. Roseland, 67, Grinnell, died Saturday evening at a Grinnell hospital after an illness of about one month.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist church officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Pallbearers will be Robert E. Anderson, Ellsworth Burch, Robert Kraxner, Arnold Lande, Ernest Opdahl, and Lewis Opdahl. Flower bearers will be Mrs. Robert L. Anderson and Mrs. A.J. Grosenbach. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Son of Thore and Elizabeth Anderson Roseland, he was born Oct. 27th, 1891, at Chicago. Later the family moved to the Dunbar community where he received his early education in the Marshall and Tama county rural schools.

On March 25th, 1918, Mr. Roseland was united in marriage with Olga Akre at her family home south of Malcom by her brother, the Rev. B.L. Opdahl. To this union were born four children: Norman of Des Moines; Mrs. Delmar (Colleen) Niester of Grinnell; Richard, who died when only seven months old; and another child who died in infancy.

Mr. Roseland had made his home in Grinnell the last 26 years and was employed as a painter and interior decorator. He was a member of the First Baptist church.

Surviving are his wife Olga; two children; five grandchildren, Judy and Beverly Roseland; and Steven, Sandra, and Sherry Niester. Also surviving are six brothers: Thorvald of Clear Lake, S.D.; Theodore, Bert and Marvin, all of San Antonio, Tex.; William of Pomona, Calif.; and James of McAllen, Tex.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
