PERRY DUNCAN RITES TODAY

Perry Orvil Duncan, 75, of Malcom died Thursday at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John F. Maze,, pastor of the Malcom Community Church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner, and pallbearers were Keith Davis, Gerald Duncan, Sonny Schneekloth, Louis Swain, Robert Walter and Peter Winchell.

Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of Thomas H.P. and Mary Ellen Judd Duncan, he was born Sept. 6, 1899, near Lineville. He attended rural schools near his home. On Oct. 10, 1918, he was married to Alta Vaughn in Leon.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan farmed in Decatur County, moving to Grinnell in 1929. Mr. Duncan later was associated with Talbott and Olds Feed and Grain. He became caretaker of St. Francis Hospital in 1960. Following his retirement in 1965, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan moved to Malcom.

Survivors include his wife, Alta, and six children, Cleveland O. Duncan of Des Moines, Mrs. Estel (Amanda) Cottrell of Newton, Charles Duncan of Grinnell, Mrs. Phillip (Ann) Cogley of LaMirada, Calif., Mrs. Eldon (Bernice) Audas of Whittier, Calif., and Kenneth E. Duncan of Malcom. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters, John, Dolly, Cecil, Kenneth, Marie and Dolly's twin sister in infancy.
