EARLY CHESTERITE DIES APRIL 17

Nellie Anne Skiff was born at Chester Center, near Grinnell, Iowa, March 22, 1857. She grew to young womanhood in that community and united with the Congregational church there as a girl. After spending several years in Marshalltown and Hawarden, Iowa, Lake Preston, S.D., Minneapolis, Minn., and other places, she came to Brookings about 1900, where she has since made her home.

Her life was spent in service for others. Where the need was the greatest, there she loved to be. She joined the Brookings Methodist Episcopal church August 25, 1901, and was one of the most faithful and loyal members this church or any other ever had.

While visting at the home of a friend Monday afternoon, April 17, she quickly and quietly slipped away, at the age of 71 years and 25 days.

She is survived by four brothers--M.H. Skiff, Minneapolis, Minn.; W.C. Skiff, Storm Lake, Iowa; J.H. Skiff, Oakes, Mo.; and C.T. Skiff, Buell, Idaho. Three sisters and two brothers have preceded her in death.--Brookings, S.D. Register, Thursday, May 3.
