MRS. T.B. BUMP BURIED HERE

Mary Ellen Buck, third daughter of Samuel and Mary Mitchell Buck was born August 29, 1856 near Greenfield, Ohio and died May 30, 1932 at the home of her son Edwin in Joliet, Illinois.

At the age of ten, her parents brought the family to the vicinity of Montezuma, Iowa and later to Grinnell.

She was united in marriage with Thomas Bump, Sept. 28, 1878, and with Mr. Bump lived nearly fifty-one years.

To them wre born six children, Edwin E. of Joliet, Ill., Frances Bertha, who died at the age of seven years, Sumner M. of San Francisco, Mrs. Florence Horn of Center Point, Iowa, Mrs. Marie H. Morris of Kellogg, Ia., and Glenn B. Bump of San Francisco, Cal.

Mr. Bump passed away August 19, 1929 and since then Mrs. Bump has made her home in Joliet with her son.

For years Mrs. Bump has been associated with the Congregational church of this city. She was a truly devoted wife and mother. Her idealism and ardent desire for truth were a continual inspiration to her children and friends.

Brief funeral services were held in Joliet by Rev. George H. Olson, pastor of Willow Avenue Presbyterian church, where Mrs. Bump attended with her son's fmily. Services were held Thursday afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. Robert Inglis officiating and Rev. E.M. Vittum assisting.

Music was furnished by Prof. D.E. Peck who sang "My Task" and "Now the Day is Over" with Prof. Matlack accompanying at the organ. Pall bearers were I.E. Goodrich, Harry Shaw, I.M. Harrington, Alfred Burroughs, Wilfred Morris and Howard Guthrie.

She was laid to rest beside her husband at Hazelwood.
