--The funeral of Miss Minnie L. Mack was one of the largest ever held in the city, the large church being literally crowded, showing the esteem in which the deceased woman was held by our people. A few friends met at the residence of Mr. Mack a 2:00 o'clock to accompany the body to the church. Here a large company had already gathered to assisst the bereaved friends and express sympathy for them in the death of one whom all loved. The pulpit rostrum had been beautifully decorated by loving friends with roses, chrysanthemums and carnations, woven with smilax. A large photograph and two smaller ones of the decseased, two taken when strong in health, were on the rostrum, the last remembrance many friends will have of the beautiful life that has been for a year slowly fading away. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Holyoke, Mrs. Christian, Mr. A.C. Harriman and Mr. S.H. Herrick sang tenderly three songs, two of whom, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Abide with Me," were among the last sung in life by the deceased woman. Prayer was offered by Rev. E .M. Vittum. Dr. Megoun, as a friend of the family, spoke at length of her sweet pure life, of her abounding cheerfulness, of her dislike for everyting false, and the sweet form before him, a type of the angel life her spirit had taken on. Pres. Gates followed with a few trustful, appropriate words, words of hope and sympathy, of love and esteem. The friends present were permitted to look for the last time upon the calm features of the sleeping one, and the body was borne to Hazelwood. After a song by Messrs. Allison, Brande, Russell and Westbrook, the body was lowered into the tomb, profusely decorated with evergreens. A prayer was offered by Mr. Vittum and all that was mortal of Minnie L. Mack was left to await the resurrection day. Universal sorrow is felt in Grinnell that a young, earnest, pure, talented life, so rich in promise, so admirable in character should thus be taken away in the prime of usefulness and joy.
