MRS. SELDEN L. WHITCOMB TO BE BURIED HERE

A message from Harold L. Beyer of Chicago Saturday, stated that Mrs. Selden L. Whitcomb, widow of the late Prof. S.L. Whitcomb, formerly of Grinnell and Kansas University, died at St. Luke's hospital in Chicago, Friday, June 12, after a long period of invalidism. Mrs. Whitcomb was formerly Edna Osborne, and was also a student of Prof. Whitcomb at Kansas.

Mrs. Whitcomb was born in Belvidere, Illinois and received degrees at both the Universities of Illinois and Kansas. She was the writer of several plays which were produced and she also published several books of poems. Prior to her death Mrs. Whitcomb expressed a desire that two poems that her husband wrote be read at the funeral services.

The funeral services were held this afternoon at the Snyder chapel and then the body was taken to Des Moines for cremation. Burial will be in the family lot at Hazelwood.
