BEULAH LIEK, 73, DIES TUESDAY

Funeral services were held today (Monday) at 10 a.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home for Beulah M. Liek, 73, a former resident of Malcom.

Mrs. Liek died Tuesday Jan. 15, at a hospital in Mesa, Ariz.

She was born Oct. 21, 1900, in Madison Township of Poweshiek County, and attended the rural schools in Sheridan Township. She was graduated from Malcom High School, and attended the University of Iowa.

In 1925, she was married to H.L. DeYoung. He died in 1939. She was married to J. Clyde Liek on Aug. 28, 1948, and he also preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1967.

Mrs. Liek lived in Cedar Rapids for several years, and was employed by the Equitable Life Insurance Company of New York. In 1961, she moved to Mesa.

She was a member of the PEO and the Velda Rose Methodist Church of Mesa.

Survivors include her two step-children, James Liek of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Hawkes of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. R.W. (Florence) Johnston of Sioux City and Mrs. Edward (Lucile) Scott of Manchester, Conn.; two brothers, Wayne and Ralph Reams, both of Grinnell; two aunts, Miss Lenore Sterling of Grinnell and Mrs. Bertha Wilson of Salem, Ore.; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wood Reams, and her husbands.

The Rev. John F. Maze, pastor of the Malcom Methodist church, officiated at the services. Organist was Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Ronald Reams, Bill Reams, Larry Reams, Merle Reams, Craig Reams, and Earl Lamb.

Burial was in the Sheridan Cemetery.
