ADELAIDE DONAHUE SUCCUMBS TUESDAY; SERVICES FRIDAY

Adelaide Mary Donahue, 81, Grinnell, died Tuesday in Grinnell following several years of complete invalidism.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. O.E. Cooley of the Methodist church officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Pallbearers will be Alfred Bonyata, George Hargrave, Cecil Myers, Marion Onthank, Bill Ritter, Clark Wilson and LaVerne Reavis. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Born in What Cheer on Dec. 12th, 1878, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Downing. Sometime after the death of her first husband, Charles G. Warren, who died in 1910 at What Cheer, she came to Grinnell to be near relatives.

She was with the J.A. Stone dry goods store for some time. Then she entered the C.A. Blair store as a buyer and head buyer of the ready-to-wear department. On each buying trip to Chicago she took with her a sheaf of personal orders for customers who depended on her selections.

Her son died in 1916 in Grinnell. On Aug. 15th of that year she was united in marriage with Francis C. Donahue who was engaged in the real estate business until his death March 8th, 1932. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Paul K. (Mary Elizabeth) Jantzen.

After her husband's death she was employed as saleslady in the ready-to-wear department of the Harry McMurray department store. Later she was employed at Small's Jewelry. Until illness prevented, she was active in social clubs and the Methodist church circles.

She is survived by her daughter and two granddaughters, Joan Adelaide Jantzen and Janet Ruth Jantzen.
