CAME TO IOWA IN A COVERED WAGON

Sophronia Buffington, daughter of Seth and Ann Buffington, was born in Dearborn county, near Wilmington, Indiana, Nov. 17, 1854. In 1868 at the age of fourteen years, she, with her parents, two sisters, and her brother, came to Iowa in a covered wagon and settled in Hickory Grove township, Jasepr county, Iowa, where she has lived ever since, except for the last two years spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her daughter. She was married to William Berry Dunn, Sept, 3, 1879, who preceded her in death, Oct. 24, 1921. They leave to mourn an only daughter, Mary Elizabeth, who now lives in Albuquerque.

When a girl Mrs. Dunn joined the Methodist Episcopal church and has been an earnest and devout Christian ever since, serving actively and constantly in different offices of the church and Sunday school. In her private Bible study she has read the entire Bible many times.

At her passing at 5:30 on the morning of Dec. 28, 1923, she leaves to mourn one daughter, Mary Elizabeth, one sister, Susan Frances, of Newburg, Iowa, and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the Congregational church at Newburg. Burial was made in the U.B. cemetery of Hickory Grove.
