ARTHUR MCGHGHY, 53 DIES OF INJURIES IN TRACTOR MISHAP

A Victor man, Arthur L. McGhghy, 53, lost his life Saturday evening as the result of a tractor accident which occurred earlier that afternoon at the John DeSmet farm near Victor.

McGhghy was reportedly driving a tractor up an incline when the front end raised up, turning the machine over and throwing him beneath it. He was rushed to a Grinnell hospital where he succumbed several hours later.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Woogie of Malcom officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.

He had resided near Malcom for the past 13-1/2 years where he had been employed by John Fuerst. Only two weeks ago he had moved to the Victor community.

The son of Silas and Julia Moore McGhghy, he was born on May 12th, 1907, near Exline. He attended the rural schools of that community and also lived in the Grinnell and Oskaloosa communities. On Feb. 28th, 1939, he was united in marriage with Wanda Winchell at Montezuma.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda, and one half-brother, Edgar Moore of Exline. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Arthur, and his parents and six brothers and sisters.
