OBITUARY OF MRS. EMILY YOUNG

Many people were saddened by the death of Emily Young, long time resident of Rock Creek township, which occurred Sunday morning at 7:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.P. Powers, eight miles west of town.

Mrs. Young had been in ill health for some months and bore her suffering without complaint.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock at the Primitive Baptist church in Grinnell Tuesday by Elder Thompson of Casey, Iowa.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Gilreath of Kellogg, who sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were N.I. Young, G.W. Young, Fred Young, Frank Young, Jim Young and Clarence Powers.

Burial was in Rock Creek cemetery beside her husband.

Emily F. Eads was born in Monticello, Wayne county, Kentucky, April 6, 1853, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eads, and passed away May 13, 1934, being at the time of her death 81 years, one month and seven days old.

She was married to A.B. Young on Oct. 10, 1872 in Kentucky and came to Iowa immediately afterward and never again returned to her native state.

Four children were born to this union, Mrs. J.P. Powers, V.L. Young, L.B. Young and Mrs. Stella Mason.

Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1903, and also her son, L.B., on Feb. 26, 1928, and Mrs. Mason in August, 1927.

She united with the Baptist church in early life and ever remained a faithful member till the last. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J.P. Powers, and one son, V.L. Young, and six grandchildren, who are Mrs. Maybel Eads of Lexington, Ky., Roy Powers of Ottumwa, Mrs. Jessie Elmore of Grinnell, Mrs. Laura Washington of Kellogg, Mrs. Pearl Lauber and Mrs. Helen Dhondt of Grinnell, and eleven great grandchildren.
