AUGUST PLOUVIER

Death came to August Plouvier July 4, 1965, at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids. He had been in ill health for the past two years.

August Julius Plouvier was born June 23, 1887, in Hooghlede, Belgium, the son of Pete and Mathilde Plouvier. At the age of 24, he came to the United States and made his home on a farm west of Hartwick before moving to Belle Plaine eight years ago.

In 1922 he was married to Marie Bertha Bazyn who died in 1952. The couple had no children. In 1953 he married Cantellis Landuyt.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blomme of Dopo, Ill. and the following eight step-children: Henry Landuyt of Luzerne, Fred Landuyt of Silvis, Ill., Mrs. Paul (Mary) Papesh of Elberon, Victor Landuyt of Blairstown, Charles Landuyt of Chelsea, Mrs. Harry (Rachel) Hodina of Ely, Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) Iezek of Brooklyn and Edmond Landuyt of Tama.

Funeral services were held July 7 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's church in Belle Plaine with the Rev. V.J. Hlubek officiating at the requiem mass. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Brooklyn. Pallbearers were Julian Van Thournout, Melvin Landuyt, Eugene Papesh, Ronald Cleppe, Charles Landuyt and Darole Landuyt. Mrs. Julian Van Thournout and Mrs. Bill Thorman were in charge of mass offerings.

Persons in attendance were from Moline, De Witte, Grand Mound, Lawler, Waucoma, Tama, Brooklyn and Victor.
