ERNEST STORY

Ernest Delbert Story, son of Earl B. and Martha Erickson Story, was born June 12, 1913 at Unionville, Mo. and died Oct. 15, 1965, in Community hospital in Grinnell where he had been admitted earlier the same day. He was 52 years old.

He came with his parents to Malcom when very young and most of his life was spent in and around Malcom. He attended the Malcom school graduating with the class of 1931. He worked in grain elevators most of his life.

On April 2, 1938, he was married to Edna May Meldrem and four children were born to the couple. Mr. Story had been in poor health for over a year and forced to quit work in October of last year. He had been quite poorly since suffering a stroke Jan. 20.

He is survived by his widow; three children, Mrs. Larry (Marlys) Petersen of Whittier, Calif., Marlou Story at home, and Garry of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Darryl and Lori Petersen Chris Story and Sheila Story; two brothers, Fred of Indianola and Fred of Malcom;and a sister Mrs. Pearly (Bernice) Smith of Malcom.

Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held at the Malcom Methodist church October 18 with the Rev. James Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Ivy Hill cemetery. The following nephews served as pallbearers: Lyman McDowell, Claire Meldrem, Frank McCumber, Bill Tinkle and Vernon Tinkle. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McKeag and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bauman.
