Pearly Smith services set

Pearly B. Smith, 73, of Malcom died Tuesday evening at St. Francis Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of Joseph Wesley and Sarah Moore Smith, he was born July 21, 1907, near Dean. At age 21, he came to the Malcom area and farmed for several Malcom area farmers. He was married to Berniece Story on Sept. 14, 1935, at Montezuma.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Darlene McDowell, Jimmy Wayne Smith, and Keith Allen Smith, all of Malcom, William Eugene and Jack Ellis Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., and Earl Joseph Smith of Marion; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters, Daisy Nicholson and Jessie Emmert, both of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Smith and four Half-brothers and sisters, Guy Lee, William Lee, Mary Lee and Leona Gary.
