LYLE L. MELDREM FUNERAL SERVICES THURSDAY, FEB. 22
Funeral services for Lyle Laverne Meldrem, 34, Korean war veteran, were to be held at 2 p.m Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Presbyterian church in Malcom.
Interment was to follow in Ivy Hill cemetery under direction of the Smith Funeral Home. Flower bearers Mrs. Fred Story and Mrs. Clara Carson. Casket bearers Lyle Bauman, Marvin Beck, Bert Matteson, Wavern McDowell, Ward Puls and John Wakeley.
Lyle died at about 5 a.m. Feb. 20 near Brooklyn as he was en route to Iowa City to receive treatment for a gunshot wound. He was injured at 1 a.m. in a car at Grinnell.

LYLE MELDREM WAS FORMER SERVICE MAN
Lyle Laverne Meldrem, son of Clifford and Evy Sanders Meldrem was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Brooklyn, and departed this life February 20, 1962 at the age of 36 years, 5 months, and 26 days.
He graduated from the Malcom high school in 1942 and was employed as bookkkeeper at the Malcom Farmers Elevator until just prior to his death.
He was a resident of the Grinnell and Malcom community all of his life except for two years during the Korean war. He was a member of the Francis Gallagher American Legion Post of Brooklyn.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Patten, and one son by a previous marriage, Randall Laverne Meldrem of Webster City. Also surviving are two brothers, Claire of Huxley, and James Duane of Gilbert; and three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Zadie) Ross, of Brooklyn; Mrs. Harold (Norma) Duffus of Kellogg and Mrs. Paul (Merlene) Whisenand of Kelley. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held on Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in Malcom with the Rev. Donald Woogie of the Methodist church officiating.
Interment was in the Ivy Hill cemetery under the direction of the Smith funeral home
