DR. ROWE DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Dr. Charles Rowe 82, of Chula Vista, Calif., a former minister of the United Methodist Church in Grinnell in the 1930s, died March 7 in California of a heart attack.

Services for Dr. Charles Rowe were held March 13 at Geyer Funeral Chapel there, with the Rev.Jerry Brown officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in *Lovilia.

He was born Jan. 21, 1898, in England, to Richard and Hetty Littleton Rowe. He married Elva Gilliland, and was a United Methodist minister for 57 years.

He spent 25 of those years in Iowa, and moved to Chula Vista in 1949. He retired there in 1962.

He received his doctorate from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, and was a member of Masons in Clarinda and a past member of Rotary and Kiwanis.

Survivors include his wife, his sons, Charles of San Diego, Calif., Richard of Belmont, Mass., John of Linda Vista, Calif., and Paul; of La Mesa., Calif.; his brothers, Fredrick of Kansas, William of Mount Pleasant and Charles of Van Nuys, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
