THOMAS GARBISON RITES SATURDAY

Thomas A. Garbison, 45, of 1303 Reed St., Grinnell, died suddenly Wednesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital of a heart condition.

He was the son of Murrel and Gladys Crabb Garbison and was born on April 27, 1925, in Marion County, Iowa. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and was assigned to the 457th Bomber Squadron on the island of Guam.

On Oct. 24, 1945, he was married to Betty Garrett at Indianola. The couple had one son, Terry Allen Garbison, now of Des Moines.

Following the war, Mr. and Mrs. Garbison lived in Milo and New Sharon. They made their home in Grinnell the past 12 years, where he operated Ahrvano's Pizza restaurant at the Bowladrome.

Mr. Garbison was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist church and had been a member of the Grinnell Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Betty; his son Terry; one grandson, Todd Allen Garbison; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Garbison of Indianola; his grandmother, Mrs. Josie Crabb of Indianola; a brother, Donald Garbison of Indianola; and twin sisters, Mrs. Dow (Fern) Ward of Indianola and Mrs. Billy (Louise) Schlater of Patterson, Mo. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lori Ann Garbison, in 1968, and his father Murrel, who died in 1966.

Funeral services for Mr. Garbison will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Eugene Young officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner, and flower bearers will be Phyllis Merchant and Gladys Buffum. Pallbearers will be Harry Kingsley, Roger Close, William Swanson, Carl Wittrup, Harold Moyer and Dick Zobel. Honorary pallbearers will be John Anderson, Gordon Felper, Tom Parmley, John R. Anderson and Joe Buffum.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
