GRAVESIDE SERVICES TO BE HELD FRIDAY FOR DAVID CROSSLEY
David Duane Crossley, the 15-year-old son of Mrs. Betty Crossley of Lake Charles, La., and the late Duane Crossley, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind. following hospitalization there since Nov. 28, 1967.
David was born Aug. 20, 1952, at Boston, Mass., the second child of Duane and Rose Crossley. The family moved to Grinnell where Mr. Crossley was associated with the Music Department at Grinnell College and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church.
Mrs. Crossley's health failed, and she died when Dsvid was an infant. Later Mr. Crossley was united in marriage with Betty Barney, also a professional musician, and they continued to live in Grinnell.
In 1956, Mr. Crossley died as a result of injuries received in an automobbile accident, and later Mrs. Crossley and the children moved to Lake Charles, where she is assistant professor of music at McNeese State College and also teaches at the local schools of Lake Charles.
David had been a student at Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind., when he became seriously ill and was hospitalized at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Norma Crossley of Lake Charles, and his grandmothers, Mrs. William Crossley of Hudson, Iowa, and Mrs. O.R. Barney of Walkerton, Ind. He was a member of the First Methodist church at Lake Charles.
Funeral services for David Duane Crossely were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Nusbaum Funeral Home in Walkerton, with the Rev. Charles Ellenwood, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist church in South Bend, Ind., officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hazelwood cemetery, Grinnell, with the Rev. John S. Hedger, vicar and chaplain of St. Paul's Episcopal church in Grinnell, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery, next to his father.
