MARY KING

Mary King was born at Newton, Jasper county, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1867, and passed away at the home of her parents in Grinnell, Iowa, August 22nd, 1910, after a week's illness. She was always very frail and had at times suffered severely.

She was very fond of little children and desired to have been a kindergarten teacher, but she was harried from that for which she was so well equipped mentally. She had cheerfully contented herself to do what she was able in the home so that for years she has been the heart and center of the household. In her wide sympathy for the sick and aged she often worked beyond her strength to relieve them.

Since she had been such a sufferer, the friends cannot but feel that to her death was a sweet release, though they will miss her gentle presence. Miss King was rich in the best things this world can give--love of family, and of her many, many friends, to whom her memory will always be precious.

She leaves to mourn her loss father, mother and three sisters, Miss Ida King, Mrs. Byron Patrick and Mrs. John Kettle who is now visiting in England.

Miss Hazel Scott sang two solos at the funeral service, which was conducted at the home of Rev. Elias Handy.
