MR. HAGGE RITES ARE HELD
Elmer J. Hagge, 78, formerly a farmer in Poweshiek County, died at Grinnell General Hospital Wednesday, June 11, from complications following surgery. He had been a patient in Iowa Methodist in Des Moines prior to his transfer to Grinnell three weeks ago.
Services for Elmer Hagge were held Friday, June 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sheridan United Methodist Church in rural Malcom, with the Rev. Lawrence Fitzpatrick officiating. Organist was Mrs. Raymond Graham, and soloist was Jim Mochal. Zelma Graff and Vern Backen assisted with floral tributes.
Pallbearers were Olin Bidwell, Virgil Bidwell, LaVern Bartling, Mike Doyle, Earl Miller and Nelson Smith. Burial was in the Sheridan Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home of Tama in charge.
Born Oct. 16, 1901, in Poweshiek County, he was the son of Henry and Anna Frahm Hagge. He was educated in rural schools in Tama County.
On Oct. 8, 1936, he married Flossie Miller in Oskaloosa. They farmed in Poweshiek County for 26 years before moving to their farm southeast of Tama.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Norman of rural Tama; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Brandt of Des Moines; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Doyle of Toledo and Mrs. Frank (Helen) Duffy of Tama; and one brother, Irvin of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Herman; and one sister, Gladys, in infancy.
