PAULINE WILLIAMS

Pauline Williams, 73, of Grinnell died on Thursday, March 17, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Pauline Williams were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen McCune. Pallbearers included David and Dusty Albertson, Shawn Doehler, Dan and Marvin Kriegel, and Jeremy, Matthew and Nicholas Williams. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

She was born on March 23, 1931, in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Edgar and Opal Troxell Winchester. She later moved with her family to the Rock Creek area, where she spent her childhood and where she received her education in a rural school near her home.

She married Raymond C. Williams on June 25, 1950, in Grinnell. The couple made their home in Kellogg and in Oskaloosa prior to moving to Grinnell in 1954. She worked at the Grinnell Shoe Factory, the Maid-Rite and the White Spot Cafe. From 1955 until her retirement in 1993, she was employed at the Longhorn Restaurant.

She is survived by three daughters, Marla Kriegel, Mary Albertson and Darla Byers, all of Grinnell; four sons, Ron of Kellogg, Gary of Richland Center, Wis., Larry of Des Moines, and Randy of Cumming; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three great-grandchildren.
