RICHARD COOLING, PHILIP COOLING, SARAH COOLING
Joint funeral services for Richard Cooling, 33, and two of his children, Philip, 9, and Sarah, 4, were conducted Thursday at Faith Assembly of God in Marshalltown.
They were killed in an auto accident Feb. 18 near Monroe, Wis.
Burial was in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.
Richard Cooling was born July 8, 1955, in Marshalltown, the son of Vernon and Ruth Nott Cooling. He graduated from Garwin High School. He was married to Karel Verwers Aug. 8, 1977. Mr. Cooling moved with his family to South Beloit, Ill., and worked for Longview Fiber Co. in Rockford, Ill. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Rockford.
Surviving are his wife, Karel; a daughter, Stephanie; his parents; two sisters, DeeAnna Cooling and Sheryl Steuhm, both of Garwin; three brothers, Daniel, Houvden and Greg, all of Garwin; and his grandmothers, Beulah Nott of Gilman and Julia Cooling of Garwin. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and a brother.
Philip Cooling was born June 10, 1979, in Webster City. He attended school in Garwin and Gladbrook before moving to South Beloit in 1986 and attended Christian Life Center in Rockford.
Sarah Cooling was born Nov. 3, 1984, in Iowa City. She was a member of the Sunbeams at her church.
