DELLA 'MAE' GRAHAM

Della "Mae" Graham, 94, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at St. Francis Manor.

A funeral service was held Monday, July 25, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial in Hazelwood Cemetery followed.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Della Mae Graham Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Della Mae Graham was born on Feb. 20, 1917, to Robert E. and Addie Naomi Reavis Pierce in Madison, S.D. She moved to Grinnell as a young girl and attended Grinnell schools.

Mae was united in marriage with Elmer G. Graham on Nov. 26, 1938, in Oskaloosa. In 1942, Elmer and Mae moved to Snohomish, Wash. She traveled with Elmer during his painting profession. Mae moved to Buckley, Wash., in 1972 and then to Grinnell in February 1989.

She loved to do word find puzzles, enjoyed her peppermint candies and chocolate, and was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Cardinals. She always enjoyed being around children.

She is survived by her daughter *Copper Powers of Buckley, Wash.; one granddaughter; three great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Dunnick of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer in 1976; and her siblings, Jesse Pierce, Edith Claussen, Raymond Pierce, James Pierce and Patricia Barron.
