SARAH SPARKS DITZLER

Sarah Sparks was born in Indiana Jan. 1, 1836. In 1854 she was united in marriage to George Ditzler. To this union twelve children were born five of whom are still living, two sons, David M. and William H. Ditzler, of Grinnell, and three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Adams, of New Sharon, and Mrs. Lettie Plum, of Grinnell, and Mrs. Kate Dodge, of Valley, Col. All but the latter were at the bedside during the last hours of her earth life. Sunday morning, March 14 about 10:30, the weary heart ceased its beating, and the sufferer entered into rest, the rest which a life of Christian faith and service has made sure. Years ago she united with the Baptist church of which she has been a faithful member. She leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. But sorrow mingles with joy for death means release from pain, and the entering into life. The funeral services were held in the U.S. Club House, Rev. F.H. Webster officiating, yesterday afternoon at 2:00. Interment was in the Grinnell cemetery.
