RUFUS RICKER IS BURIED HERE THIS MORNING

Interment services were held at 10 o'clock this morning at Hazelwood cemetery conducted by the Rev. John Wesley Potter for Rufus Ricker, for many years a resident of Grinnell, who died July 16, at San Benito, Texas.

Mr. Ricker, the oldest son of Edward and Clara Ricker, was born on Auust 12, 1849, at Davenport,Iowa, and moved to Grinnell in the spring of 1867, attending college here for some time. He was married in 1875 to Hattie Craver and was the father of two sons, Raymond C. Ricker of Seattle, Washington, and Charles C. Ricker of San Benito, Texas. Mrs. Ricker died at Cedar Rapids in 1916.

While in Grinnell he was employed by the Craver and Steele Binder Co., and moved to Harvey, Ill., in 1890, and again to Chicago in 1907. In 1909 he returned to Iowa and became a Certified Public Accountant at Cedar Rapids. During the past four years he had made his home with his son, Charles in San Benito.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Ricker were prominent members of the Methodist church in Grinnell and Mr. Ricker served as Superintendent of the Sunday School for ten years here.

In addition to his two sons, he is survived by five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ella M. Pierce, of Grinnell and Mrs. Grace Hollingsworth of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and by one brother, B.J. Ricker of Chico, California. Another brother, Charles F. Ricker, and two sisters, Mrs. Addie McIntosh and Mrs. Fannie Morrison, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Margery Bouma and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster sang at the funeral services at the grave. The pall bearers were J.W. Gannaway, Fred Morrison, Edwin Parish, Paul Parish, Dr. P.E. Somers, and Robertson Gannaway.
