RITES HELD FOR MAMIE TIBBS

Mamie Mary Tibbs, 80, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Grinnell, the widow of James Oscar Tibbs, died Thursday, Sept. 20, in Omaha.

The daughter of Robert R. and Mary Brown Redrick, she was born Nov. 16, 1892, in Grinnell. She attended the Grinnell public schools, and later was married to James Oscar Tibbs. The couple had six children: Mrs. Janet Revels of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Roberta Wilder of Marshalltown; Mrs. Shirley Whitner; Harold D. Tibbs, and Albert S. Tibbs, all of Omaha; and Edward L. Tibbs of Oskaloosa.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Tibbs made their home in Grinnell. Mr. Tibbs died Jan. 8, 1941. Mrs. Tibbs continued to make her home here until 1959 when she moved to Omaha to be near her children.

Survivors include her six children; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William H. Redrick of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith and Judith; and two brothers, Robert and Arthur.

Graveside services for Mrs. Tibbs were held at 10 a.m. today (Sept. 24) at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. T.H. Dorsey, pastor of the Council Bluffs Tabernacle Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Booker Kiner, Curtis McGee, Clark Watkins, and Arthur Wilder.

The Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
