ROBERT SPADING SERVICES TODAY

Robert Spading of Grinnell died Friday morning at a local hospital following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Presbyterian church in Malcom with the Rev. L.H. Streich officiating. James-Schalinske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Virgil Broders, Frank Kelm, Leo Kelm, Ralph Wentzel, Phineas Varnum, and Clarence Irwin. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran cemetery.

Son of Theodore and Fredericka Zorn Spading, he was born on August 23rd, 1869, at New Buffalo, Michigan. When 25 years old, he came to the Malcom community and August 29th, 1900, he was united in marriage with Anna Buchenau at Grinnell.

They farmed in the Malcom area until 1929 when they retired and moved to Malcom. For the past two years they have made their home in Grinnell.

Mr. Spading is survived by his wife, a son Theodore of South English; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel McKeag of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Floyd (Clara) Smith of Colfax, and Ella F. Graham of Malcom. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Brooklyn, and Herman of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two sisters, Ida Timm of Michigan City, Indiana, and Lena Debrick, also of Michigan City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one sister, and two brothers.
