FORMER MAYOR DIES SATURDAY

A former Grinnell mayor and vice president of Grinnell College died Saturday, April 25, at Chico, Calif.

He was Louis G. Chrysler Sr., 85, who had lived in Chico since 1951.

He was born May 25, 1884, in Minneapolis, the son of James G. and Ida Thomas Chrysler. He was educated in Minneapolis and Lake Park, Iowa, public schools, St. Thomas Academy and the University of Minnesota. Mr. Chrysler married Clara Stoltenberg on Oct. 5, 1910, in Davenport.

In addition to serving as an officer of Grinnell College and as mayor here, he also held responsible positions with the Fruit Dispatch Company and was involved in banking and land management.

Mr. Chrysler is survived by his wife Clara; two daughters, Mrs. Burke N. Carson of Skaneateles, N.Y., and Mrs. Herbert C. White of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; two sons, James A. of Maitland, Fla.; and Louis G. of Chico; and a brother, Clayton D. of Seal Beach, Calif. There are also 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, at the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel in Chico. Interment was at Chico Cemetery.

LOUIS CHRYSLER SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Louis G. Chrysler, former mayor of Grinnell and former vice president of Grinnell College, were held at 10 a.m. last Tuesday at the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel in Chico, Calif.

Mr. Chrysler died Saturday, April 25, at the age of 85. He had been in ill health for two years.

He was born May 25, 1884, in Minneapolis, Minn., and was educated in Minneapolis and Lake Park, Iowa, public schools. He attended St. Thomas Academy and the University of Minnesota.

In addition to his position as mayor of Grinnell and vice president of the collere here, Mr. Chrysler also held positions with the Fruit Dispatch Company and was involeved in banking and land development.

He is survived by his wife Clara, two daughters, two sons, a brother, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Chico Cemetery.

Mr. Chrysler was also a trustee of the Congregational Church here, president of the country club, and headed the rationing board during World War II.
