Roy Casey services set

Roy A. Casey, 86, of 1817 Prince St., Grinnell, died of heart and kidney failure Saturday evening, Nov. 29, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Lott of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

Memorials in Mr. Casey's name may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church or to Grinnell General Hospital.

The son of James Austin and Mary Phelps Casey, he was born on Aug. 3, 1897, near Chelsea. He attended rural schools.

On March 1, 1922, he was married to Meta L. Snyder at her parents farm home near Tama. The couple farmed near the Haven community southwest of Grinnell and near Gilman before moving to the family farm south of Malcom in 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Casey continued to live near Malcom until they came to Grinnell in 1949 to retire.

Mr. Casey was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and Mens' Club, the Grinnell Kiwanis Club, the Grinnell Planning and Zoning Commission, the Farm Bureau and the Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Meta; his daughters, Marjorie E. Casey of West Des Moines and Madolyn Braley of Montezuma; his sons, Deane A. of Malcom and Darrell W. of St. Joseph, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence; and two half-brothers, Sherman and Leo Casey.
