DR. GREENE DIES AT 79

Chiropractor 41 Years; Stricken in R. Island

A Grinnell chiropractor for 41 years, Dr. Curtis W. Greene, 79, of 708 Fifth avenue died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter in Rock Island where he had gone for a visit. He suffered a heart attack the previous day.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at First Friends church here, conducted by the Rev. Charles O. Whitely, pastor, and the Rev. Anna Albery and the Rev. Leslie McCarger.

Music was by Dale Olson, vocalist, and Mrs. Glen Bowen, pianist. Pallbearers were Ernest Deppe, Herman Deppe, Jesse Hamor, Glen Ferneau, Friend Kensinger and Will Tindle. Burial was in Prairieville cemetery seven miles north of Marshalltown.

Son of Johnathen Greene and Rachel Williams, Curtis W. Greene was born in Clay county, Iowa, Aug. 15, 1874. He was married to Orpah Taber at Eldora on Aug. 22, 1901.

Dr. Greene came to Grinnell from Oskaloosa and was engaged in the practice of chiropractic here for 41 years. He was a member of First Friends church.

An avid basketball fan, Dr. Greene was regular in his attendance at Grinnell high school games. He continued to follow the Tigers this past season.

Surviving are his wife, and five children: O. Curtis of Clinton, Glen Edwin of Newton; Mrs. R.V. (Rosalie) Berry, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. J.R. (Lillian) Bitcon, Mason City; and Earnest J. of Moline, Ill.
