Mr. William F. Ziska was born April 7, 1883, at Hampton, Iowa, and died at Grinnell, Iowa, Thursday, May 27, 1909, aged twenty-six years, one month and twenty days. When yet in his infancy his parents moved with him to Belmond, Iowa, where he grew to manhood, graduating from the high school at that place at the age of sixteen. He was always at the head of his classes and was the youngest student ever turned out by the Belmond school. Soon after graduating he took up the study of telegraphy as an apprentice with the C.R.I. & P. railway, which he soon became master of and secured a position as operator for the Iowa Central and remained in their employ until his death. Coming to Grinnell in April 1902, as operator and in September, 1905, was promoted to the position of cashier, which position he held until one month prior to his death.

Mr. Ziska was a member of the Masonic lodge of this place, also of the Knights of Pythias and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two children, father, three brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss, to all of whom their many friends join in extending their deepest sympathy.

The body was taken to Belmond, Iowa, for interment.
