--Mrs. Rachel Ogden, who is supposed to have been the first white woman, that ever lived in Poweshiek county, died in February, at her home in Kansas. She with her husband, R.B. Ogden moved into the county in the fall of 1843, setting near Forest Home. Mr. Ogden died a few years ago, near Montezuma. When Mr. J.W. Satchell moved into the county, in March 1844, Mr. and Mrs. Ogden were the only white persons in the county.
