TUESDAY SERVICES SLATED HERE FOR MRS. PEARL NAY

Pearl Garrett Nay, 72, of Grinnell, succumbed here Sunday.

Services are to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with Elder C.D. Talbert of Blakesburg officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Nettie Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Koger, Ralph Koger, Paul Wilson, Albert Neighbors, Gordon Neighbors, and Clyde Austin. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery. Contributions are being accepted for the Community hospital building fund.

Mrs. Nay was the eldest of five children born to Horatio S. and Belle Blake Garrett and was born in East Waterloo township, Black Hawk county, Iowa, on Aug. 11th, 1891. The family later moved to the Grinnell area where she grew up and attended the Grinnell schools. After pursuing a teacher training course in college, she taught in the rural schools of Poweshiek county for three years.

On Dec. 31st, 1913, she was united in marriage with Isaac S. Nay. Following many years of residence at Cedar Falls, she returned to Grinnell in 1952 for her retirement years.

She became affiliated with the Primitive Baptist church while a young woman.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Maurice W. Boatman of Grinnell; a granddaughter, Mrs. Preston L. Plews, presently of Tokyo, Japan; a great grandson, William Preston Plews; a brother, Burton R. Garrett of Brainard, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
