MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR MABEL BROEFFLE
Mabel, daughter of Zach and Jennie Brown Smith, was born in Montezuma Dec. 18, 1899, and died in St. Francis hospital, Grinnell, Mar. 15, at 60 years of age. Her youth was spent in Montezuma where she attended school. Later she lived in Adel, making a home for her father.
She was united in marriage with William Broeffle Feb. 18, 1919. They made their home on a farm near Winterset for several years; moving to Poweshiek county 12 years ago, later to Grinnell.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Jennie Neal; two sisters, Edith Murphy and Blanche *Mattison, a brother, Wilmer, all of Grinnell; four half-brothers, Lowell, Melvin, Zach Jr., and Harold, and three half-sisters, Inez Miller, Neola Gordon and Velma Hunter, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Mar. 17 at the Steffy Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. G.R. Dieken. Entombment was in the Masonic-IOOF cemetery mausoleum. Casket bearers were Mayo Stanford, Verne Grife, Harlan Wolford, Terry Mattison, Jerry Henning and Marvin Dayton.
