BEAUTIFUL LIFE OF FIDESTA HASTINGS ENDS

Sincerely mourned by many friends who have extended their loving sympathy through all the phases of her long illness, Miss Fidesta Hastings passed away Sunday morning at 10:35 o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hastings, 613 Main street. She had been an invalid there for many months. She was aged 36 years, 9 months and 17 days.

The death of Miss Hastings cuts short a life of unusual helpfulness and promise. She was born in Grinnell and grew to womanhood here. She attended the Grinnell Schools, graduating from high school in 1907. Then, after some preparatory study in Commercial work, she accepted a position with the Grinnell Savings Bank, in which all her active business career was spent.

She demonstrated her dependability and ability so satifactorily that she rose by successive promotions to the position of assistant cashier, which she was filling most acceptably until forced by ill health to relinquish her work in June of 1923. Since that time she has gradually declined until her death Sunday.

She joined the Congregational church and was a faithful and earnest member up to the time of her death.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hastings, one brother, Harry, of Bloomington, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Cedric Barnes of this city.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Smith Undertaking parlors, conducted by Rev. E.M. Vittum. Burial was made in Hazelwood cemetery.
