OBITUARY.

MRS. THOMAS ASHBY.

Anna Short was born in Edinburgh, England, May 12, 1838, and died in Oskaloosa, Iowa, May 9, 1913, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 27 days.

She came to Rock Island, Ill., in 1850, and on Feb. 25, 1855, was united in marriage to Thomas Ashby. To this union eight children were born, five boys and three girls: William, Robert, George, Thomas, John, Jane Ann, Martha and Mary.

Mr. Ashby died in Mercer county, Illinois, Jan. 24, 1880. Two children, John and Mary, also preceded the mother in death. Mrs. Ashby has been a widow for 33 years. She moved to Grinnell, Iowa, in 1880, and to Oskaloosa in 1896. At this time she lost her eyesight. During the past sixteen years she has made her home with her children, where she has been a patient and cheerful sufferer.

The services were held at Bethel, on the Lynnville charge, the pastor, W.A. Odell, officiating. The scripture, 103 Psalm, was read by Geo. R. Pottorf. The text used, Prov. 4:18.
