OBITUARY.

MRS. SARAH PETTIT

Sarah Pettit was born Feb. 17, 1845, in Noble county, Ohio, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.A. Roby, on Dec. 6, 1916, at 2:30 p.m., at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 19 days. Mrs. Pettit came to Iowa when she was about 11 years old with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Davis.

In 1861 she was united in marriage to William Pettit. To this union were born thirteen children, three dying in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Pettit were converted in their young married life and united with the M.E. church and ever lived and died in the faith of Him, who said, "I am the resurrection."

Mrs. Pettit has been a constant sufferer for the past six months, but all that kind hearts and loving hands could do has been done. Mrs. Roby has devoted almost her entire time to her care and comfort through her illness. But all felt well repaid when she called us to her bedside and told us how she loved her children and what they had done for her and bid us all goodbye, as God in His wisdom has seen fit to sever her from all pain and sorrow.

Mrs. Pettit leaves to mourn her death four sons and six daughters and many other relatives and friends, her husband preceded her in death about seven years ago.

Only sleeping, peacefullly sleeping.
As she leaves this mortal world.
Waiting for a hand of greeting
And a loving final call
Of the blessed, great Redeemer
Who has promised in His love
To the children of His kingdom
A home in heaven above.
Come, throw off thy earthy mantle,
And put on a robe of white;
Come from sickness and darkness
into everlasting light.
So at last His call was answered;
T'was her victory in the fight.
And her soul from earthly peril
Into heaven took its flight.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness during the illness and death of our mother.--Mrs. A.A. Roby and family; Mrs. L. A. Martindale and family.
