ARCHIE GRAHAM

Archie Graham, 87, Springfield, Mo., formerly of the Broolyn area, died Sept. 21 at Cox Medical Center North, Springfield.

No services were held. Private burial of the cremains was held at Rivermonte Memorial Gradens, Springfield.

He was born July 20, 1906, in Brooklyn, the son of Brownlie and Dora Hayes Graham. He farmed in the Brooklyn area for several years and was a member of Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn. He was married Dec. 1, 1927, in Grinnell to Madeline Bales. He was an airlines flight engineer for over 31 years, first at the old Des Moines Airport in Altoona, in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Denver, Colo., and San Mateo, Calif., later serving with United Airlines for 18 years and with American Airlines until his retirement. He also was a flight engineer on many flights during World War II.

He had been a resident of Lake Isabella and Santa Rosa, Calif., since 1954, moving to Springfield in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Madeline; a son Archie Laverne Graham, Porterville, Calif.; a daughter Rosemary, Springfield; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two sisters, Olive Abel, Grinnell, and Frances Kleiss, Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his daughter Helen Elizabeth Bond, Hampton; his parents; four sisters and one brother.
