MRS. HARTSHORN RITES FRIDAY

Jeanetta Clayton Hartshorn, 84, of 333 Park St., Grinnell died Tuesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Grinnell Christian Church, with the Rev. John C. Epperson officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Brownlie and Dora Hayes Graham, she was born Feb. 26, 1896, near Brooklyn. She attended schools in the Brooklyn area and later received her teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teachers College.

She taught in rural schools near Grinnell and later at the former Cooper School here.

On Feb. 23, 1921, she was married to Allen Paul Clayton at her parents farm home near Brooklyn, and the couple farmed in that area following their marriage. Mr. Clayton died in 1937, and she contineud to maintain the farm there until moving to Grinnell in 1939.

In 1940, she was married to Charles Hartshorn in Des Moines. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hartshorn was a charter member of the Grinnell Christian Church and was a member of the church's Women' Fellowship. She was also a member of the Grinnell American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Miles Clayton of Brooklyn, Roger Clayton of Brooklyn, Graham Clayton of Des Moines, Mary Dean of Grinnell, Pauline Phipps of Grinnell and Paul Gene Clayton of Grinnell; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carrie Bolen of Grinnell, Olive Abel of Grinnell and Frances Kleiss of Brooklyn; and a brother, Archie O. Graham of Lake Isabella, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son, Robert; one great-granddaughter; two sisters and one brother.
