LARRY DURR SERVICES TODAY

Larry L. Durr, 45, of Rte.2, Kellogg, died of cancer Tuesday, Nov. 2, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove E.U.B. Church, and the Rev. Damon Reese, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Grinnell, officiating. Music will be provided by Nadie Schaumburg and Arthur and Evelyn Osborn. Pallbearers will be Chuck Elliott, Dennis Elliott, Dwaine Elliott, Gary Elliott, Ralph Elliott and Harry Schumacher.

Burial will be at the Rock Creek Cemetery west of Grinnell. Memorials in Mr. Durr's name may be made to the Hickory Grove Church and left at the funeral home.

The son of Leroy and Elsie Taylor Durr, he was born March 1, 1937, in Grinnell. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1955 and later attended Iowa State University and the University of Hawaii. He was employed by Douglas Aircraft in California and has been involved in the production of space capsules for NASA's Apollo missions. He later was employed by JPL Laboratories in Pasadena, Calif.

He returned to Iowa in 1978. On March 1, 1981, he was married to Linda Sue Elliott. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church and was active in the Rock Creek Family Band.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karisa Durr; his parents Leroy and Elsie Durr of rural Grinnell; one sister, Linda Schumacher of Council Bluffs; and one brother, Ronald Durr of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jacob Paul Durr, who died on Oct. 7 of this year.
