FRANCES HUFF FLINT

Frances Huff Flint, 95, of Grinnell died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, and Robert Zirkelbach, pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating. Organist was Bernice Smith, and vocalists were Joshua and Michael Van Donselaar. Casket bearers were Roger Roland, Cliff Strovers, Robert Smith, Jim Van Donselaar, Nathan Van Donselaar and James White.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of James and Wilhelmina O'Neal Huff, she was born July 23, 1904, in Stoutsville, Mo. She lived in Minnesota before moving to Grinnell. She was a 1923 graduate of Grinnell High School and taught rural school near Guernsey and Victor.

She was married to Raymond H. Flint Feb. 17, 1934, in Grinnell. They farmed near Deep River until 1941, then moved to Seattle, Wash., where she taught home economics at Renton High School. She spent her summers at the University of Washington and the University of Northern Iowa, earning a B.A. degree from UNI in 1949.

She and her husband retired in 1975 and moved to Grinnell.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a regent of the DAR and a member of the American Association of University Women and the Home Economics Club.

A sister, Lois Van Donselaar of Grinnell, survives. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Lillian McClure, Jane Harper and Helen Speas; and five brothers, Paul, Glenn, Roland, Lloyd and Robert Huff.
