DENNIS MARVIN SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Dennis Ray Marvin, 24, of Belle Plaine were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Hand Funeral Home in Tama, with the Rev. Curt Miller, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Montour.

Mr. Marvin died Saturday at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he had been a patient since being injured last Thursday near Chelsea while working on a rail line. Authorites said a jack handle slipped and struck him in the head, causing a severe skull fracture.

The son of Bernard L. and Esther S. Hanson Marvin, he was born Aug. 11, 1950, in Grinnell. He received his schooling in the Tama schools.

On Feb. 1, 1969, he was married to Nancy Louise Bowling of Carey, Ohio, after which they lived in Belle Plaine.

Mr. Marvin was a member of the Lutheran church and the maintenance employees union.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Kevin, Lisa and Steven; his mother, Mrs. Esther Marvin; his stepfather, Robert Marvin; four sisters, Mrs. Kay Stevens of Grinnell, Mrs. Siretta Blocker of Toledo, Mrs. Debbie Thede of Belle Plaine and Mrs. Cheryl Spading of Tama; and a brother, Bernard L. Marvin of Tama.
