LITTLE JACK FLANAGAN

For the last three weeks a large company of friends have watched with the deepest solicitude the determined fight against spinal meningitis which was being waged by brave little Jack Flanagan and by others in his behalf. It looked for a time as if he would surely recover, but last week there came a turn for the worse and on Saturday afternoon he passed away. The burial, took place Sunday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Edward W. Cross conducting the service.

Grinnell has known no more winsome lad than Jack. Named for his father, John Murray Flanagan, at seven years of age, he had already begun to reveal the manly qualities that had shone so splendidly in the man whose name he bore. The fine appreciations of his alert mind, the responsiveness of his wistful affection, the devoutness of his unfolding Christian life, the gallantry of his last facing of pain, give to all who knew him a keen sense of loss, now that his bright presence is no more with us. His whole life was a beautiful commentary on the Master's words, "Of such are the kingdom of heaven."

All who have know Jack's home, grieve with his sorrowing mother and the members of her family in their great bereavment.
