GUS SCHULTZ IS CRUSHED BY CAR

Yesterday afternoon, Gus Schultz of Malcom, a member of one of the prominent families of the county and a man widely known and respected, was crushed to death under his car at a point three miles south of Tama. His head was crushed and death was probably instantaneous. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church in Malcom.

Mr. Schultz in his King car left Malcom at noon yesterday, bound for Tama. He was alone. The fatal accident occurred at 2 o'clock. As near as can be told, Mr. Schultz had driven into a hollow at the foot of a hill where the road was a trifle soft. He put on a little power and the car shot out of the soft place. Just ahead there is a slow turn in the road. Mr. Schultz evidentally failed to make this and his car shot right ahead off the road and turned over and down a five-foot embankment. The car turned over once and a half times. Mr. Schultz was not pinned under the car but was crushed as it rolled over him.

News of the accident has caused universal regret. Mr. Schultz was well known here and was a member of the local lodge of Elks. It is probable that a number of Elks will attend the funeral.
