OBITUARY

HENRY H. AHRENS

Henry H. Ahrens, son of John and Henrietta Ahrens, was born October 1, 1859, died March 3, 1913, aged 53 years, 4 months and 24 days.

He was of German descent, and became a member of the Lutheran church in his earlier life. His early boyhood days were spent in Iowa.

At the age of 16 he moved to Colorado with the family of John Gordon, in whose home he remained for a number of years attending school in Trinidad and other places. The last 17 years of his life were spent in Needles, Calif., and vicinity where by his upright life and honorable dealing he won the respect of the community.

About two months ago valvular heart trouble was developed and on Feb. 1st, he entered the Santa Fe Hospital at Los Angeles, being an employe of the Santa Fe Railway Co. Here he remained until his demise.

His disease became serious about two months ago and terminated in his death on March 3rd.

He leaves a wife to whom he was united in September, 1906. Also three sisters and one brother in Iowa, and one sister in Idaho. In Needles and vicinity he leaves a host of friends who will miss the pleasant face and hearty greeting of one who will walk no more in their midst.

He became a member of Needles Lodge, No. 326, Free and Accepted Masons, May 14, 1900, demitting from Lily Lodge, No 254, of Malcom, Iowa. He was also a member of San Bernardino chapter Royal Arch Masons and of St. Bernard Commandery Knights Templar of San Bernadino, Calif.

Those who came from out of town to attend the funeral were:

Fredrickson and Miss Lottie Eriksen, of Des Moines; Herman Mote, of Bloomingdale, Ind.; Mrs. Henry Cromick, of Needles, California; Frank Ahrens, of Estherville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz, of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Schultz, of Reasnor, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lidtka, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Puls, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eisele, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baltisberger, Mrs. John Schneckloth and daughter, Della, and Mr. and Mrs. T.J.Mehlin, all of Malcom; Mrs. C.H. Schultz and daughter, Theodore Booknau and C.A. Mehlin, of Brooklyn.
