OBITUARY

MRS. HENRIETTE LANGE

Mrs. Henriette Lange, nee Schultz, was born at Richtenberg, Pomerani, province of Prussia, Germany on Nov. 15, 1823; entered into the state of matrimony with John Ahrens, deceased, in 1849, and several years later, about 1853, together with her husband emigrated to America. Having lived near Princeton, Ill., for two years, they then moved to this county. In 1861 Mr. Ahrens died. To this, her first matrimonial union, seven children were born, of which number only four are living, John Ahrens, Henry Ahrens of Needles, Calif., Mrs. Charles Mehlin of Grinnell, and Mrs. Caroline Erickson. She also leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Carl Schultz of Malcom, and Fred Schltz of Grinnell.

Later she married again, her husband being Ferdinand Lange, and to this union was born two children, Mrs. C.J. Lundt of Fayette, Idaho, and Mrs. Mary Appleby, of Grinnell. At the home of the latter she passed away Friday morning April 19, after only a week's illness, aged 83 years, 5 months and 4 days.

Her second husband having died in 1884, she has been a widow for nearly 23 years. The many dark days of this long life, have however, been brightened by the many loving attentions of her children, grandchildren and friends.

The burial took place Sunday afternoon, Rev. A. Mathias officiating, with six of the grandsons of the deceased as pallbearers and music furnished by her granddaughters, and her remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery in Malcom township. The attendance was very large.
