OLD VETERAN DIES.

Nathaniel McVey Passed Away at Soldiers' Home Sunday Night.

Nathaniel McVey, veteran of the Civil war, died Sunday night at the Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown, of cancer.

Mr. McVey will be remembered by our older citizens and among the G.A.R. veterans. It has been many years since he left here though at various times he returned to attend reunions. He entered the Home at Marshalltown last July. He was born in Clinton county, Ohio, July 5, 1835, and enlisted in Company C. Twenty-eighth Iowa infantry July 28, 1862, at Forest Home. He was discharged October 5, 1865, at Davenport. Besides his widow, Mrs. Eliza McVey, of Clarinda, Mr. McVey is survived by a son, Charles McVey, of Corning, and two daughters, Mrs. Belle May, of Atlantic, and Mrs. Jennie Oliphant, of Council Bluffs.--Montezuma Republican.
